World Environment Day was celebrated by several groups in our community on Sunday 5th June. There was the launch of a new Bushcare group which plans to have early morning Weeding Working Bees at the Fairfax walk area at North Head. Volunteers, supervised by Garigal Landcare and NP&WS, removed a huge swathe of weeds including paspalum, fleabane and whisky grass to allow the endemic native plants to take hold. A terrific new information board was unveiled highlighting some of the 160 fish, shark and ray species that thrive in our blue backyard
