The steps to the front door finally got too much for Phil and Jan and they have now sold the house that had been in Jan’s family for 100 years to a neighbour. Jan’s father worked in the Gasworks across the road. Jan attended the Manly Girls Home Science School (now Manly Village Public School) and Phil, Manly Boys High, now Manly Selective. After marrying in St Matts in the Corso in 1963 they headed to Alice Springs before returning to Little Manly in 2000. Since then Phil has been cheerfully chatting to everyone while keeping the streets, Little Manly Point park and the beach litter free on his daily walks The grass verges have been mowed immaculately and he has been delivering our newsletters for all that time.
