Council has now approved the most recent modification request to the DA for the Boarding House on the corner of Darley Rd and Ashburner St. The modification entails changes to elevations and room configurations while adhering to the original building envelope, levels, and height. A reduction from 31 to 26 boarding house rooms was proposed and has been approved. Rooms now all achieve a minimum of 16m2.

A Plan of Management has also been approved to ensure responsible administration, operational compliance, lodger facilities, and community engagement. It is intended to foster a sense of community and comfort through self-contained rooms, house rules, and a robust complaints reporting and management system.

This Plan of Management controls the tenure of stay and states that stays beyond the initial 3 month period is to be at the discretion of the Boarding House Manager.

Provision for some bicycle parking has been made but no onsite carparking is proposed. However there will be a loss of at least two on-street parking spaces on Ashburner Street with the inclusion of a loading bay access at the rear of the property.
